Solas An Lae’s Holiday Spectacular Dance
Performance
Red Hook, NY- Solas An Lae School of
American Irish Dance will be performing their annual holiday show A MidWinter Night’s
Dream to take place on December 17, 2011 at 8pm. The performance
captures a timeless story of dreams and imagination that lights up the stage in
this magical holiday dance production. Performance is to be held at The
Fisher Center for Performing Arts at Bard College
in Annandale-on-Hudson. The Fisher Center box office can be contacted

Solas an Lae
pronounced (sullus un lay) is Gaelic meaning “Light of Day.”
In their original work, SAL Directors
Deirdre Lowry and Patrick Brown launch a stylistic assimilation of step work
and choreography, which embodies greater flexibility of movement and rhythmic
pattern inside and outside the technical structure of traditional Irish Dance.
This unique synthesis is distinctly American and unequivocally
characteristic of Solas An Lae in its integration of cultural and classical
concepts in dance.
Solas An Lae’s productions captivate
the senses with striking video and abstract montages, and a musical score that
seamlessly interweaves diverse musical genres, including world grooves,
classical, jazz and contemporary Celtic. Uncompromisingly innovative, Solas An

2. Plan for creating Trinity Children's Center Facebook Page-
Facebook Client Page Proposal
Due to the increased use of social media throughout our society the use of a Facebook Page could greatly increase the amount of people who know about your organization. Trinity Children’s Center is a Preschool located in Lagrangeville NY who is filled with young parents as well as working parents who are active Facebook users. A Facebook Page can not only increase communication between the parents whose children attend the school but also spread the word to their friends who are looking for a place for their own children to attend.
The Page will consist of photos of the outside of the school, the classrooms and parent approved pictures of children interacting during classroom time. The Facebook page should be accessible via link from the website and vice versa. The Facebook page should consist of a place where people can socialize and see information fast, unlike the website which contains the school’s philosophy and further detailed information.
While developing the page there are a few privacy concerns that need to be addressed since the page is for a school and has a reputation to uphold. First off, “the wall” needs to be protected from possible posts that could contain profanity. Therefore, setting the page so that the admin (yourself) must approve the posts before they can be publicly seen on the school’s page. This will prevent any problems that can occur from either angry parents or even hackers. However, you don’t want to completely eliminate a wall and leave only a space for photos and for you the admin to post status. Users appreciate their chance to be able to say what they want and by completely eliminating that, it would not please users as Facebook is a place to communicate from behind computers when you can’t face to face. In turn, once the comments are approved and actually go up to post this could become a great way to get great marketing for free. Having a user post something positive about the school is like getting great testimonials that people will read and take into consideration. If questions are asked on the wall, its most likely there is more than one person who has that question and therefore it’s a great way to reach a large amount of people.
After creating Facebook page with photos, links and statuses the first reason in which Facebook can come in use, is creating an event. With everyone’s busy schedules as well as the switch to cell phones creating online events is a very convenient tool for those looking to attend. By creating an event you can post photos in relation to the event, times and send out invitations. This will come in use for the various events the school hosts throughout the year. In particular, their annual Open House which is held in March. This is a great way to promote the event by inviting parents whose children have attended the school, as well as those who are currently in the program so they can pass the event onto their friends or neighbors who are also in the market for a preschool. In this instance, allowing users to see who is attending and who is not can be both a positive and a negative. A positive is, people who are thinking about coming may be reassured by seeing someone else they know on the guest list. The downfall of this is if only a few people answer the events RSVP it could look like a small event. For the first few times, I would suggest keeping the guest list hidden. After the first few times of working on the format I would experiment after.
In order to keep the admin of the site focused on their task at hand, it is a good idea to turn the “social discovery” mode “off.” This will hide all of the games and social experiments or surveys that Facebook is notorious for and keep the users focused on what they are supposed to do and won’t clog up your “news feed” with unwanted clutter.
Also, since you are a company you want to disable the chat option, which will automatically turn on each time you sign on unless you change the settings. Although you have Facebook you want to keep a professional and semi-untouchable nature therefore other users should be able to contact you publically via the wall or an inbox message but not through a casual chat message.
Each “Page” is allowed a username, which is used as the URL, this can’t be changed once it is set. For instance, the school’s URL would be (www.facebook.com/Trinitychildrenscenter) making it easier for users to locate the school via the name.
Another great aspect for advertisement is using “Facebook Ads” which lets you promote globally or locally. Obviously for this program promoting to a local audience would be the most beneficial. We should choose to put up ads during registration season from May- August when most people are looking towards registering for the following year.
By applying the following applications to the client’s Facebook page it should provide a practical place for transmission of information as well as a social networking site.

Etiquette
Despite the exponential increase in
social encounters, it seems as if etiquette has failed to adapt to our new pace
of life. The mundane day or the stress at work has become a pass for rude and
inconsiderate behavior towards people we may or may not know. Following the many
agricultural revolutions, more people reside in densely populated areas rather
than rural nuclear living. This sudden rapidity in tempo left us ill prepared
to deal with, let alone embrace the spastic undulations of technological
advances. Everyone became closer physically and virtually, bringing upon a
world with two different types of social interactions. Along with these new
forms of communication, came new social techniques? to adapt to, while
traditional forms of communication suffer seemingly due to their lack of
everyday use.
As humans and the world have evolved
man’s emotions have been a constant within the processes. The significant
difference between emotions then compared to now are the factors surrounding
the subject and how they are handled. With the use of technology, our feelings
as well as personality can be masked through the computer screen, creating a
false bravado of strong and consequence-less behavior. We’ve all lost parts of
our identities due to the new social network revolution.
After recently flying to Florida, I was
shocked, displeased, and embarrassed by those who were traveling along with me.
For instance, the way a fellow passenger treated another passenger who had a
handicap. As she approached her seat on the plane, a male passenger began
badgering words over his headphones, muttering stereotypical and insulting
sayings about how he had no desire to sit near her, and making announcements
upon her unwanted arrival.
My grandparents have told me stories of
when they were young and they were expected to treat elders with respect and
the classes they took to learn proper etiquette is nothing in comparison to how
the world treats others now. Etiquette was taught first in France to children
in school and spread to other countries from the 1500s through the 1900s
primarily because it was believed that manners made life easier and more
pleasant to co-exist with others.
As time goes on and our society evolves
and changes we’ve had to learn new schemas regarding etiquette along the way.
As society has made technological advances, our knowledge of manners have had
to change to accommodate new forms of social interaction. For instance,
pondering whether or not to respond to email, accept a friend request, or
replying to a tweet. The unfortunate result of this is we’ve begun to forget
about our current surroundings as we get caught up in our virtual surroundings.
Therefore, the first time you use a cell phone out to dinner at a restaurant it
feels awkward, but after the behavior is repeated again and again it becomes a
developing habit and then texting consistently during dinner seems to become
natural; as we ignore the ones we are really with. Texting becomes second
nature; something we were born to do and not be without. As society has slowly
decreased the average attention span, the disconnect between reality and
technology begins to feel like driving through a “dead-zone.”
Scientists say our brain only uses 10-20% which means while we can absorb new
material our less used material gets pushed to the back burner. Perhaps our
brains can’t handle the over stimulation of both the technology as well as the
physical stimulation around us; it’s creating an overload. However, as many of
us come to find, life is about finding the balance in certain aspects in order
to live a healthy even-keeled life. We mustn’t get caught up in only our
technological on-screen romance but the life in which we are really
participating in; the unscripted reality.
